大數據之應用有利於科學研究發展，為學界所公認。在實證醫學、遠距醫療發展成為重要醫學研究內涵時，大數據也成為醫學研究的重要一環。馬偕醫院醫學研究部於2018年成立大數據研究組，短期目標以協助馬偕醫院所有對大數據研究有興趣之醫師、醫事、護理及行政同仁，提供研究設計的統計諮詢與資料分析的相關服務。長期目標期望整合臨床電子病歷資料庫、政府官方釋出之資料庫、癌登資料庫等，建立跨領域資料平台，發揮大數據價值，提升馬偕醫院醫療體系之學術地位，促進全民健康。

精神疾病患者得心肌梗塞的危險性高於非精神疾病患者。

精神疾病患者得心肌梗塞之後受到的醫療照護，住院期間精神疾病患者死亡率高於非精神疾病患者。

精神疾病患者使用抗精神病藥物後得心肌梗塞風險高於非精神疾病個案。

懷孕婦女合併憂鬱症個案有較高比率的妊娠巨吐症(39.3% vs. 35.5%)、流產(3.3% vs. 2.6%) 與胎位不正(12.3% vs. 10.3%) 等妊娠併發症；對生產的影響為剖腹產的比例高(40.2% 34.6%)。

本組近年來協助各科別與醫師利用大數據進行研究，成效斐然，如：精神科-臧汝芬、林承儒、黃郁心、蘇煦涵、內分泌科-蔡明潔、小兒科-雷偉德、 直腸科-蔡柏立等醫師。

近2年來本組已執行6件院內外研究計畫，研究成果已發表15篇SCIE論文，其中四篇的研究成果並刊登在SCIE Psychology 或Psychiatry 領域排名前10%的相關期刊。
